That would be fantastic, if you could. I've got no issues writing that functionality client-side on here. Unless XF disallows external ajax URLs but I would be very surprised if that were the case... in fact I can't even see how that would be possible, short of stripping out any script code in the forum templates, but I already know it doesn't do that.

Just send me the necessary info once you've made that change, thanks man!
 
Hey y'all, please note the new "find reports by search term" control in the forum header. This uses thujone's excellent TR forum search API to return all reports matching any search term you put in. It's light years ahead of the shitty search functionality built into the forum software. Enjoy. :)

Let me know if anything isn't working. I'm gonna make it look a little nicer soon but no more time today.
 
the TRS backend has fallen over a few times these past few days, so some may have noticed no results returned.

it happens because the server has only 128MB of RAM and the TRS app is the first to be sacrificed when the limit is reached.

it's running now, and i'm doing some optimization to hopefully keep it always below the limit.
 
Yeah, thujone told me his server is having issues.

We're moving towards either standing up a dedicated server for this, or more likely, utilizing Bluelight's server for it. I have root access to the BL server now, so I can make it happen, I just need to find time. I was wanting to write my own thread scraping system to power the search, but it's a fairly sizable project and I'm working 10-11 hours most days at work.

But it's definitely going to happen and is in the works. :)
 
yeah, sorry all. the domain host vanished without a word, making the address unreachable. i'm really busy with work and life so the project is on hiatus for now. i still think of it as an important project but i just can't commit any time to it right now.
 
No worries man, this lights a fire under me to push forward with writing something on the BL server. But like you, hard to find the time...
 
No mention of transtympanic & intraocular. I believe they both represent different ROAs to transdermal... and don't laugh, their are people on Reddit claiming LSD eye-drops are a thing.
 
True. I hadn't thought of those when I created the system. I may add those moving forward, but back-tagging this stuff is a project for another day year.

FYI, I am in the middle of a large undertaking to write a platform that adds various functionality to the forum, by providing an API for the future website and forum to communicate with one another, and also various services for the forum to use. One of those is a content scraper which will allow custom forum-specific search engines to be embedded in the forum headers. So the existing Trip Reports search bar/tools will be updated to always work, and have every thread we have included, and all new threads and changes to threads will be updated daily. It will also provide a portal to greatly aid in tagging efforts for our volunteers who help with that. Stay tuned. :)
