hello.

so, my friend bob went up to a music festival this weekend and definitely had his best acid trip yet. (3rd time doing it.) there was one specific part that stuck in his mind though. when looking up at the night sky, bob was able to see so much more than he had ever seen. all the stars were connected, as if all the constellations had become completely vivid. he could see geometric lines connecting hundreds of stars.. but bob wasn't sure if this was just a mental hallucination, or if the acid was just showing him more of what was literally there in the universe. was what he saw accurate? how exactly does this work? what are other people's experiences stargazing with alice? bob found this incredibly fascinating and beautiful, and wants to know more..
 
Stargazing on psychedelics is always amazing, and particularly so on LSD. I don't think we're seeing actual stars that we don't normally see (the only mechanism for that would be the pupil dialation, which would only have a minor impact, as our pupils are already dialated to near their limit in the darkness). I do know, and have experienced, the effect you described almost exactly, though. It really is amazing, and is unique to LSD as far as I've experienced.

Alice? Who da fuck is Alice? (does anyone else know the reference i'm trying to make here? no? dang.)

As far as I knew, LSD was Lucy, not Alice... Is that in common use? I mean, I can see where it comes from (I assume her last name starts with a D right? ;) ), but I havn't heard it before.
 
Stargazing is famous on acid and it's a must for at least one trip. I looked up and saw the face of a goddess gazing down at me smiling. The more I looked, the more she shifted into various forms and expressions. I gave her the finger.

I also saw distinct lines between the stars, and the constellations, which I'm normally retardedly blind to, became very clear. At one point, it looked like the stars were not thousands of light years away, but mere hundreds of metres over my head, a more 3D display of beacons hanging there in formation. Beautiful candles, like the Great Hall ceiling at Hogwarts.
 
I haven't been stargazing on LSD but I have looked at the night sky on 25mg of 2C-I and it was frickin' incredible. No star movement, just insanely bright and vivid stars.

However, LSD + clouds is just perfect =D

The moon + mushrooms is also a wonderful sight. There's just something about our moon =/
 
Last time I did that was on a double dunk of the old Foghorns and the whole sky morphed into a lava lamp where all the contents therein were just really morphed and squished, and I could control their direction by moving my head.
It's always beautiful looking at the stars on LSD, whenever I take acid I always find some time to go outside and remember just how small we humans are.
 
I LOVEE looking up at the night sky while on LSD! Simply put, it is amazing. I have had various visual distorions while doing this...
-Stars being connected to eachother by thin red lines
-Rings of light emitting from the moon with a gradient effect
-A kind of stop motion effect with the whole sky spinning
-All stars swirling around into a central point
-Clouds SPEEDING by extremely fast
There was one visual distortion that really stands out from the others, it was very odd. Stars seemed to be formed together in groups to form circles that appeared to be about the size of my palm. All these clusters of stars spun and were pushed close to eachother, very cool to watch.

Seems we've all shared some similar beautiful starry experiences. I was more curious about the actual science versus hallucinatory aspect of what we are seeing. A few of you also talked about seeing lines connecting the stars. I wanted to know what exactly we are seeing? Is it just a common mental hallucination that lots of us see on acid, or are those lines connecting the stars REAL constellation lines that are only visible when tripping? It may seem like a stupid question.. but I just want to know more about what is going on up there and if what we are seeing is real or not!
 
I think the red lines I saw were just strong visuals, that was the highest dose of acid I've taken. You never know though.

Personally, I wasn't quite seeing the lines as physical things, but I was so aware of them that I may as well have. They appeared as triangles and even prisms in some places. Since I was not hallucinating the stars themselves, I have to think the lines were real, and that LSD supercharged my ability to see the connections. It's all about seeing patterns and connections. I also have to wonder if the people who originally saw the constellations were in a shamanic state of mind similar to what we'd regard as a psychedelic state. It's also how they might recognise by subtle signs we couldn't understand why, for example, certain species of berry are poisonous where others are not. (If it was trial and error, the human race probably wouldn't have lasted long, and after all, animals usually know what to eat and what to avoid without intellectual knowledge.)

Interesting. When you say 'shamanic state of mind' (in which they viewed constellations and were able to understand plants better) - what exactly do you mean by this? I'm not saying I disagree with you, but I wouldn't throw out the notion of trial and error entirely. I'm currently learning about edible and medicinal plants in my region, and there are actually very few poisonous plants compared to how many there are with beneficial or neutral properties. I would imagine word/knowledge would travel fast among ancient peoples around this kind of thing. Getting back to the constellations though, I haven't done the research to know exactly how they were originally discovered. You're saying ancient Greeks saw the same lines we saw? I can't even remember and I don't know the constellations well enough, but when you saw the lines did they line up accordingly with real constellations?

@acidclouds. Well I can see by your name and your post what you're into. :p I have yet to watch clouds on acid, (although have done on k and greatly enjoyed). Ever heard the song "little fluffy clouds" by The Orb? Give it a listen next time you're watchin and trippin.

*I forgot to mention. How do animals know what and what not to eat? That's a head-scratcher. Heightened sense of smell? Maybe poisonous plants smell funny? Because I know there are lots of lookalikes that I would have no idea not to eat unless I studied the leaf patterns very carefully
 
Hell yeah I have had some experiences with cid and the galaxy. Its incredible.

Once me and my friend saw what at first seemed like a massive blazing orange star then then started to descend to the horizon then just disappear, it was nuts. :O

But yeah more stars seem to become visible and it just gets me in beautiful thought loops of whats going on in this world. Takes my breath away..

Gah this thread has me wet for some LSD, how I wish I could be visited by a cid fairy!
