I mean, I can't for the life of me understand why anyone has a problem with the fact that there are people who don't feel aligned with the gender that is associated with their biological sex and happens to feel better about being alive if they live as another gender. Even if they feel the need to go all the way with it surgically. Why does it matter to anyone?

People come up with all sorts of nonsense arguments to justify their opposition, such as that if we allow people to express whatever gender of their choosing, the next thing that will happen is that people will decide they're not human and are some sort of animal. Setting aside that this is also someone's personal choice and if they have the means and resources to do that than by all means they should, a biological male that decides to live as a female can just as well take part in society and function as normally as anyone else in their careers etc.

The other thing I hear is that kids are somehow being indoctrinated to become trans by the media and teachers, which I think is absolute nonsense and can't happen; people, even young people, that don't feel aligned with their biological sex are no more confused or misguided as people who are perfectly happy living out their lives in accordance with their biological sex. They know and understand themselves and nobody's being influenced by anyone. I can't imagine ever being convinced by anyone growing up that I should perhaps identify as female, even if I was surrounded by trans people. I also have a young son and I don't worry about this in the slightest, nor see any signs of even discussing the matter in his schooling.

And the religious arguments by Christian conservatives and evangelicals is even more preposterous because the bible says all kinds of crazy shit that none of them pay attention to, like condoning slavery (the southern slaveholders actually used the bible to justify the African slave trade in US during the American Civil War), wife beating.

I mean, when I see people, intelligent people like Jordan Peterson that are disturbed by this movement, I just don't get it. People are complex and varied and we don't need to insist that everyone fit into perfect little boxes, do we?. That's obviously not the reality.

It's political. Get conservatives to think the left are a bunch crazy weird people, weaponize fundamental Christianity, and they will do everything in their power to elect Republican leaders.

That's what all the scare stories about teachers turning their kids gay are. It's all just political maneuvering.

Distract and anger them with the scare stories to maintain power and do whatever you want while they're distracted.

False consciousness in practice.

It's really not even about gay people. Imagine if they made stories about killer clown aliens that are sneaking into schools and imposter teachers eating children... it's the same exact tactic they're using. Replace gay with "X", it doesn't matter.

The unfortunately side effect of all this is that people actually start to believe that crap which turns into very real world hate towards LGBT.

One word: Fear.

Fear of the other, fear of change, fear of homosexuality being a contagion I suppose.

There's nothing rational about it at all, hence it all stems from fear.
I totally agree but when you see people that seem reasonably intelligent and rational getting so hung up about it it's odd.

For some people it's about religion. Some would say they don't hate us, they just want us to live in sin and go to hell when we die. While many others would admit they do hate us and in some cases want us to die. Think Middle East , pushed from a tall building.

Others think it's disgusting and unnatural. That we aren't really gay, just perverts or perhaps got confused as a child when we were sexually abused by a male family member. Or maybe we didn't have a strong man to learn from at all, so we became sissies raised by single women.

It's not that much of a thing outside of the US, much less political & media conversation around it, that says a lot already.

Personally I think that some things really rub people the wrong way, then it's gets blown up everywhere and it gets tempting to go the other way. The sports thing (insane imo), not saying 'woman' or something, all the pronouns... not that all of these are my personal opinions.
What is my personal opinion however is that HRT should be an absolute last resort, this very likely will have consequences for the rest of your life if you decide to "detrans". I feel like people are going a little light over that, like it's a standard and routine thing, it's not at all.

I mean, when I see people, intelligent people like Jordan Peterson that are disturbed by this movement, I just don't get it.
I used to think mr. peterson was intelligent as well, but the guy has lost it long ago, basically a walking meme now. I saw a short vid of him some time ago, he's definitely back on benzos lol.

All prejudices are learnt behaviors, typically from parents or other family members.
Religion is a major issue.
It's also strongly related to low intelligence. There's a very strong correlation where the more homophobic or racist a person is, the lower their IQ is.

That's another one I just don't get. This idea that men being as masculine as possible is an answer to all of the problems of the world. You see this thinking a lot with the religious people that are opposed to the LGBT and Trans movement. It makes zero sense to me.

I almost didn't respond to this for reasons which you are about to see. I decided to post because I wanted to try and provide some insight into people being closed minded on gender and sex issues. I'm the minority on bluelight so I felt obligated to provide the minority opinion.

Everyone wants their family being normal right? I think people just don't want their families force fed alternative lifestyles as ok.

Like I don't want my daughter being exposed to sex at all at her age. I think children get too much exposure to it already. I know I did.

So likewise I don't want her being exposed to deviant sex. Preferably ever, but especially not before she even knows what sex is.

It's a fact that if you teach children that these issues are OK to develop they are more likely to develop these issues than if they are never exposed to the issue to begin with.

Adults get serious sexual traumas from abberrant behaviors. Children much more so.

I don't mean to sound uncompassionate because I do hate that people go through these issues. Please try and understand that people hope to prevent their loved ones from struggling or suffering in this way by asking the people who go through these issues not to make such a big deal about it publicly.

I feel like our whole society would be so much healthier if children were never exposed to any kind of discussion of sex or gender. It's almost impossible to do this though.

Do I personally care if consenting adults do bizarre things? No. I really don't give a fuck who you fuck or how. Just leave me out of it. I avoid SLR because of this. That's my choice. It does me no good to argue about these issues and I am glad that there is a safe and proper place for their discussion.

I'm pretty libertarian when it comes to others privacy and liberty. I expect the very same in return. The very same. You're problem is not my problem or my family's and we shouldn't even have to discuss this really.

I can't make people be straight and would not want to force them. On the flip side they can't tell me that I have to tell my daughter that it's ok to indulge in homosexual, bisexual, or trans behavior. It's none of their business. Just like their shit isn't my business.

The goal is to prevent her even being curious about straight sexual relations for as long as possible. Like hopefully even waiting for marriage.

I was raised that way myself and possibly would have waited for marriage if I hadn't gotten drunk at college and lost my virginity during a blackout at 18 or 19.

My parents tried to be very conservative with me, but didn't go as far as private schools and such. Sometimes I wish they had. I don't think they could've afforded it when I was a kid though.

I often wonder how different life would be with that kind of upbringing. I think I could've avoided all kinds of stupid behaviors, mistakes, and also drugs and alcohol (which I started using very young).

I know as a parent I have that right and my daughter started out in small private Christian schools. Unfortunately since I'm divorced I cannot compel her mom to continue to give her a private education anymore and now she's in public school and will be exposed to everything. Like really I never planned on her going to public school.

I won't keep on. There is more I can say on the issue though.

I am a minority opinion around here on this issue so please keep in mind that I am not trying to be disrespectful. I'm only trying to explain some reasons why people who do not deal with these issues themselves do not wish to deal with these issues.

Nobody is perfect. I'm the only person I know who was taught to believe as a conservative Christian who also uses lots of drugs and alcohol. That's why I'm the minority on bluelight.

My dad told me not to judge people who use drugs occasionally any differently than people who use alcohol occasionally and so I never judged myself for either. Maybe if my dad had taught me about addiction as a kid instead I could've resisted temptation and been straight edge but instead I was always the opposite.

Take that a step further and if I hadn't been exposed to drugs or alcohol until adulthood it would've been much easier to make good decisions. I argue that sexual issues are the same. No exposure to the issue is likely to result in no issues. This is hard to do in our culture and expensive too.

In a way I can empathize with LGBTQ since I am a Christian who uses drugs and alcohol.

Doesn't that sound wrong?

Conservative believing Christians are not supposed to have substance use disorders, right? Kind of like we're all supposed to be straight, right?

But we're not all straight and I still drink and get high anyway. It's all our own choice to deal the consequences. We should all do our best to not judge each other when that is the case.

Sorry, I'm high af on mdma. Hopefully you get my points.

wait, so you mean if I walk by you on the street I can't just pull your pants down and start sucking your cock? Gays love doing that. We're actually pushing legislation to make it a hate crime for straight men to deny us sex.
You're joking but a man once did something like that to me while I was sleeping.

James Lindsay in his podcast new discourses lays it out pretty well, but it takes fucking forever.

A lot of it boils down to queer theory is Marxist horseshit repackaged, and there are some dirty secrets in their literature like Gayle Rubin's 1984 thinking sex which talks about "cross generation" sex, but it's just code for fucking kids.

Most people don't care that two dudes fuck each other consensually in private, but when you irreparably change kids with hormones or get trans people in drag to propagandize them (queer theory is marxist bullshit) at the library, expect some fucking backlash.

But I am not excusing the prejudiced bigots who exist. fuck them.

A man did that once to me too and I was just a child. Sexual assault is unspeakably terrible but it has nothing to do with average people who happen to be gay. When you say things like "just leave me out of it" , you are making us seem predatory.

Only gay men have molested me so that's really all I can identify with.

Straight men are really the only ones I can be sure will not molest me or even have thoughts about it because thinking about it is pretty creepy, too.

I really try not to treat women the way some men have come at me. People can totally delude themselves when it comes to sex. Especially some men.

But that’s certainly not the root. Some of the smartest, most intelligent people I know are very homophobic. I can’t explain that save for religious dogma.

Again, yes. Either learned behaviour pounded into their minds their whole lives by parents or similar (and/or religious bullshit).
I wasn't stating that ALL homophobes are idiots (well, yes I am, but not that they are all unintelligent). just that there is a very direct correlating between homophobia and low intelligence, and not only that but there is a direct correlation where the more homophobic a person is, the lower their IQ is likely to be.

maybe they just realize they have an addictive personality and think dicks might be delicious so they abstain completely.

I like to keep things short and sweet. Most people aren’t against lgbt, even among conservatives. Lgbt issues and race being used as an ideology and a way to divide is what annoys us. If you don’t bow down to it’s every tenant and swear your allegiance to the establishment then you are branded anti lgbt. Sort goes with the logic of this classic smuggy.
