(New South Wales) Australian ADHD Stimulant Prescribing Regulations

Hi Atelier 3,

thanks for your info. So is it hard to get the correct prescription when you already diagnosed from a specialist? I have ADHD/ impulsive side and the diagnostic lasted i guess 3 months until we tried the first med. What I find horrible is that also GPs are prescribing it all over the world without any diagnostics! I'm on Amphetaminsulfate since 8 years and it helps me a lot. I do not even feel it. It just makes my day easier, especially when it comes to work.

It is very straightforward and there are even ways to do it if you have history of drug abuse.

I’ve seen a range of questions about how adults get prescribed stimulants in Australia in several threads. This document explains how the process works state-by-state.

Got to love this though: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/pharmaceutical/Documents/stim-appln.pdf (This form is to be used to apply for an authority to prescribe a psychostimulant for an adult with any diagnosis, or for a child who does not have a diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)...

Section E: 1. Does this patient meet DSM V criteria for ADHD? #nswhealthfail
