I used to be a huge pothead and technically still am, with a massive THC tolerance based on vaping all day and consuming hundreds of mgs of oral THC daily, but I haven't touched a D9 THC product in over a year. A few weeks ago when I had a really bad precipitated withdrawal from taking naltrexone while abusing kratom extracts I gave in and to get relief purchased a D8 edible from the same smoke shop I get my OPMS black kratom shot.

100mg doses provided lots of relief. Although it's hard to compare for me to D9 since my tolerance was down, i'd say it isn't that much weaker, at least when consumed orally. I saw some video that claimed when orally taken the first pass metabolism converts it to the metabolite as D9 gets converted to. Knocked my socks off, really.

I was worried it would re-ignite my cannabinoid habit but I managed to abstain. I am still abusing the kratom tho.

Point being, oral D8 is legit af.
Hmmm, well, I guess I'll buy some D8 gummies as they sell them at the gas station a mile from me, whereas even though weed is legal in my state (NY), we don't have dispensaries yet (they said they would by the end of 2022 so WTF?!?) so I have to drive 45 minutes to Jersey to get it now, which isn't that big a deal, but the traffic can get hectic.

Plus, it would just be interesting to try it out.

I take Naltrexone on and off to keep myself from too much drinking, kratom and phenibut as well, then i like to go off it to get fucked up when I feel like it, and in this way i am able to control my usage better.

I VERY carefully wait like 5 days after my last kratom usage to take Naltrexone again, and have never had a problem, and you were taking extracts so those will be stronger than plain leaf like i use. I haven't used an extract in years.

Do you use naltrexone the same way I do, to decrease frequency of usage?

And let me ask you: how many days after your last kratom dose did you take naltrexone??

@Mycophile I'd go to a smoke shop or buy online, a lot of gas station d8 sucks.

One issue with the d8 market is there are a lot of bad products out there.

I recommend 3chi, cake and DazeD brands.
Thanks.

Yeah, makes sense that something like that at a gas station would suck.

I'm assuming it still won't be as good as regular weed but interested to see if it has some different effects.

Initially I tried using the naltrexone to interrupt the kratom habit and block it. I didn't anticipate how dependent I had become as the withdrawal was incredible painful.

I had used kratom the day before and almost every day of the week before. Averaging 3 OPMS black shots which is equivalent to about 27 grams of plain kratom a day.

Currently i am using ultra low dose naltrexone because I read it can keep tolerance from growing when taken just before the opiate.

When I manage to take a break from kratom for some days, I'll then take full doses of naltrexone to keep it stopped. Several weeks ago I had 10 days clean off kratom but then started using again. Naltrexone will help me to keep the habit down.

Assuming you get a good brand the D8 edible will be very good. I bought 500mg cookies from HI D8... they were reasonably priced too.

At lower doses it's said to be a little weaker than D9 but hits the same receptors, just a little less hard.

At higher doses it becomes less distinguishable from d9.

Look forward to hearing your experience!

Btw, shop around because some edibles are much cheaper than others per mg.

Oh yeah man, you HAVE to let any and all opioids clear the system FULLY before taking full dose naltrexone or you are in trouble.

You have to be SURE you aren't in ANY kind of withdrawal or you'll get precipitated WD.

I would really like to try ULDN as well. Some people have told me how to make it, but I'm just wondering if I'll get it right and not accidentally just produce low dose naltrexone which can still give precipitated WD.

Do you make it yourself or buy it?

Yeah for sure, I learned my lesson.

For ULDN, I took half a 50mg pill, crushed it up fine, so 25mg, then dissolved it in a personal water bottle that was 500ml. Then used a 1ml dropper (10 times) to take 10ml out of it into a fresh 500ml bottle. Then I dose 1-2ml from that second bottle to get a 1-2ug (microgram) dose of ULDN.

1mg is 1000ug (micrograms).
So starting with 25,000ug in the first 500ml water bottle, 10 ml of that solution is 25,000/50 = 500ug. Pouring that into a second 500 ml water bottle (although technically 10ml of that second bottle should first be thrown out), we have 500ml containing 500ug or 1ug per ml. I read the ideal ULDN is 1-2ug but it varies.

Currently preparing my personal use 375 grams of delta 8 distillate into tincture using pure C8 oil as a carrier. I have 3 boro glasses at 125 ml a piece so I'm going to need to do the process twice in order to hold all of the solution. I'm expecting the whole process to take about 3 hours.

Has this actually worked so far in terms of potentiating the kratom and/or mitigating the WD effects?

Because I've heard it's supposed to do both and works wonders for any kind of opioid WD.

I do believe it's been helping to reduce tolerance but I developed a substantial tolerance by the time I began ULDN. I think the results would be better if I did a tolerance break first then used it to maintain low tolerance

First legal, Health Canada approved products have appeared on OCS (Ontario Cannabis Store). A 510 threaded cartridge containing 80% Delta 8 THC, 15% D9 THC and 5% terpenes. Also there is a soda containing 10 mg D9/20mg D8, 10mg CBD.

I’m fairly sure other Health Canada approved products will follow.

Tom

This is a link to part of Bill C-45, specifying what Cannabis is. Delta 9 THC is specifically mentioned, but not Delta 8 THC. At all.

If you bothered to look at the the link, it just seems that Delta 8 isn’t mentioned and is just a ‘missed’ compound. Yet when a product is submitted to Health Canada for approval, the complete makeup of the product has to be specified. And D8, b/c it’s not mentioned, is not controlled (my guess). Hence why a product contains 20 mg D8 in addition to 10 mg D9. I believe that companies will push and push the limits of what is permissible.

Bills C45/46 are currently undergoing review And this may well result in changes that will affect D8. Dunno what’s going to happen with this.

I haven't really read any of this thread, but what benefits does Delta 8 have over stronger weed?
SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. Less anxiogenic. Less everything. Some of us like having weaker weed. I'm not about that 30% thc life.

5-10mg is alright?
As an edible? I find 25mg plenty, 50mg knocks me out. I use a tincture and take 10-20mg doses and that seems best.

Delta-8THC is not legal in the USA, as far as I know. Sad face.

THC and its isomers are in Schedule I, but FDA-approved formulations of a THC isomer (delta-9) are in lower schedules. Compare 21 CFR section 1308.11(27) with 21 CFR section 1308.13(g)(1). [...] CBD is [also] classified in Schedule I of the CSA because it is considered a compound or derivative of cannabis/marijuana. 21 USC 802. However, as indicated above, the 2018 Farm Bill has descheduled hemp as it is defined under that law. Therefore, commercial activity with hemp (including its extracts and cannabinoids) is now lawful. A DEA registration is no longer required to cultivate hemp or to conduct research with hemp. However, if clinical research, i.e., involving human subjects, is involved, an investigational new drug exemption (IND) must still be opened with FDA, and the investigational product must be manufactured in a facility that complies with good manufacturing practice (GMP) requirements. [ref]

However, I don't think you're likely to be prosecuted. As far as I know, CBD is de facto legal, even if it's de jure illegal Federally. Presumably you could try to sneak D8-THC in on the same logic. THCV and friends are not scheduled. The elongated versions (THCP / CBDP) are also not scheduled (but would likely be considered analogues based on activity as CB1 agonists)
Delta 8 is in fact 100% legal. Delta 8 is a naturally occurring compound. Analogs act only covers synthetic isomers and only the specific drug on the 1970's act and its analogs are covered. This topic has been reviewed many times and basic info can just be found on the topic by googling it. That is why headshops and gas stations sell it without any issues

Legal THC (like D8) observations.
Nothing new to report, just commonly mentioned things further experienced. Almost a double blind for me.

I have been staying away from buying D8 and the like due to general tolerance issues I noticed. However, last weekend I was in my favorite CBD, etc., store and I ended up with some free samples. This store is a favorite of mine. I talk politics with the owner a lot and he's a great guy.

I was in picking up some legal D9 edibles, as I do still buy them. They normally have free samples on hand in this store and I went to peruse them. The counter person was feeling generous and cleaning house and I ended up with some (D8) THC-O edibles and a half full HHC disposable vape. Free is always good.

Over the weekend I hit the HHC vape and took a half THC-O edible. The HHC was as experienced before, something missing in the buzz (as in all legal alternatives) but it does scratch the itch and is the best of the bunch. I then figured that I would mix the legal cannabinoids and hit a D10 vape I had. The mixture of the two was more than the sum of the parts. D10 is generally very unimpressive, but mixed with HHC it was much more. Later on, when the edible THC-O hit, I understood why everyone says that mixing these is the way to go. I was pretty stoned. So, that's confirmed.

I did the mix the rest of the day. It worked quite well. The day after as well.
The next day, it was back to the constructive grind... no smoke.
Pot always causes withdrawal in me, even after a couple days use. After a couple days it's minimal and easily ignored, but I don't feel "100% right" for a day or two.
After just two days on a mix of the legal cannabinoids, however, I felt like I was quiting after I had been smoking for months. I was in a bad mood and no appetite, etc., etc., for a couple days and it didn't feel as if it was fading into the background till the third day. I have been sticking to strictly flower for a while and the "withdrawal" from that is leagues milder.

Everyday pot smoking for years gives a withdrawal syndrome in many which does resemble benzo withdrawal. No appetite, insomnia, nausea, and nervousness. It's milder and way easier to handle, but it definitely exists. So, also confirmed... legal Cannabinoids seem to take you down that road much more quickly. Makes sense since it's commonly said that they raise tolerance quickly.

Legal cannabinoids are quite nice when combined.
Legal cannabinoids raise tolerance quickly and thus have greater addiction potential.

shit seems more dangerous than previously thought. imo/e
stick with real flower
Agreed. D8 works the first few times I try it, then I get a tolerance fast. But that goes away just as quick. 48 hours and it works again. Strange. But I read about the strange withdrawal some of you got and makes me wonder.

I do find the separate cannabinoids fascinating but the full spectrum plant is always best for me. Mostly smoked, sometimes eaten. Regular cannabis gets me toasted on two pipe hits. Vapes just annoy me (if I can get the cart of battery to work which is not always) But a fire to the flower is what works for me. No need to get all healthier about it at this stage in my life.
