Is it possible to use GHB in a way similar to alcohol (say some amount of grams per day, after 5pm, only at night, without getting dependent having WD's?) allowing enough time for it to leave your system and things to balance out as that appears to happen with alcohol..?

Perhaps but also perhaps not. For instance if one were to take a GABA-B agonist like phenibut daily they would surely become addicted. However not sure how the short acting nature of GHB comes into play. What might happen is that you begin to experience some sort of daily rebound/interdose withdrawal syndrome.

Taking GHB daily is a recipe for addiction. Not a good idea.

If you get to the point where you need GHB or Benzos to sleep you're screwed.

Expect years of in and out pysch hospital admissions and weight gain from Olanzapine and Seroquel etc

GHB is far safer than alcohol, at least assuming you don't do massive doses, the only reasons why GHB/benzos often produce more severe dependence, is due to them being physically safer, and thus having less of an incentive to avoid them (whereas with alcohol everyone knows it's terrible to drink daily)

Depends on how much you end up liking the substance. I find substances I use "just because" easier to quit/be without.
