i the i am sober app free? does it annoy you with ads or make you buy stuff? as of tomorrow i am done with drinking and feeling very nervous so would be worth a shot.
This is the one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thehungrywasp.iamsober&hl=en_IE&gl=US

You dont need to buy the premium (or Plus+) version, the free version is all you need. Its been the best for me so far. When you sign in with google or register in whatever way you prefer, you choose what it is you want to get sober from and theres a massive list. Your timer begins from then and you'll be assigned to a community of people who are on the same day as you. You can also give feedback as to what symptoms you're experiencing, how difficult the day was, and what symptoms are dissipating. You can also see comments from people who are +1 day ahead of you to see what to expect (although I know everyone's different).

Habit-bull was another one I used to use but it didnt have the counter function that this one does and was more so a 'streak based system' whereby you count your longest sober streaks. Anyway, give it a go - hope it works well for you. People are very supportive on there too, no negativity whatsoever.

First and foremost, Im really sorry to hear about your father. That's tough stuff to deal with. Going thru it now will help you to really maximize your time with him while you can. When you look back on this in the future, you will be so glad you made this decision.

Same habit as me, I want to do what you are doing so bad. I had 3 days in a couple months back and then gave in. I shouldve just stuck it out. What is neurophen? Are you in Europe?

I saw someone here on Bluelight recommend hot epsom salt baths for the muscle cramps/spasms/aches and Im telling you, it worked wonders!! Took away all cramping and aching for hours. Not sure if we really absorb the Mg thru our pores but it really helped.

I read some studies that DXM helps lessen WD symptoms so I tried that also and it did help a bit but that was in combination with clonidine which is what they did in the studies I read. I used some leftover cough meds that contained DXM along with other stuff. I didnt have the cash to go out n buy something with only DXM.

Another thing that I find really helps me a lot is forcing myself to eat something. Its sooooo hard bc lack of appetite, stomach issues etc so I just basically drink chicken noodle the cheap kind that you are supposed to add a can of water to. And protein shakes. Just to get something in my stomach really helps with the lack of energy, headaches and stomach pains - a lot of that is due to hunger for me (but just dont feel the normal hungry feeling).

Documenting the process will be a big help to others on here. I dont think anyone else has documented this for heroin withdrawal specifically- other opiates but wasnt able to find one for H. However,I may have been looking in the wrong places.

You've got this!! Im rooting for you!! Ill be following your progress and will make any suggestions I can think of as you go!! Hang in there!
For your clarification, Nurofen is a brand name for Ibuprofen here. You can also get Nurofen plus, which also contains codeine. I've used this in the past to ease myself down a little more gently. Is decent stuff.

Bang on, Neurophen Plus contains 12.8mgs of Codeine and is *very* handy for taking the edge of withdrawals. Its usually in my kick-kit. Its just enough codeine to take the edge off yet not enough to get any recreational value out of so it works a charm; even more so if you perform a cold water extraction of the codeine from the ibuprofen however I couldn't be bothered with that these days, although if you're say 5-7 days into withdrawals and can almost see the brightside of the tunnel, a CWE will give you a bit of a buzz and a histamine release but its not really worth it. Its handy if you can perfect the method and you could then store the codeine yield in the fridge as a light painkiller. Works quicker and more effectively than just downing 4 or 5 of the tablets, and is easier on the system.

I have to take an insane amount of Cap'n Codies to even approximate 'recreational value' even with my very much reduced intake. So no 'temptation'.
... Got into a serious fix once with a massive OD of them though ; the problem not being the codeine but the ibuprofen.

Basically I was trying my level best to get high off them to no avail but thereby ended up consuming several times the max daily amount of ibuprofen over the course of a mere 4 hrs. My liver was severely insulted and it let me know.

Yup, it aint the codeine that'll kill ya - its the ibuprofen or paracetamol. Thats why I used to do the CWE on Panadol Extra (to rid the APAP). Got it down to about a ~95% yield; remaining liquid was almost clear, just a hint of opacity. Took pride in perfecting that yield too - used to depend upon it.

To anyone else reading this who doesnt know what we're talking about, just know this:

NEVER assume its a good idea to down 10 or 15+ Neurophen Plus/Solpodine and/or Panadol Extra etc.
If you're that stuck and OTC Codeine is all you have, then put the effort into performing a CWE (Cold Water Extraction, a link to which - ie. a safe and reliable method teaching you everything you need to do in order to extract the codeine from the muck which will prove toxic to have in your system - I'll edit into this post shortly, but which is available via the Bluelight Search function).

Also, for F's sake don't try to enhance the effect with booze. This is what I was doing despite KNOWING better because I had such a single - minded focus on the desired outcome. I wasn't keeping track of 'how many units of alcohol, how much ibuprofen' but 'how many more mgs of sodding codeine do I need to get into myself in order to get off'.

Result : I passed out cold STILL not feeling at all high, came to some hours later with a pulse of 250 and blood pressure through the roof - my body's attempt to counteract the near - fatal level of sedation via a massive adrenaline surge . Somehow staggered down half a mile down the road to the nearest house, hardly able to breathe, convinced I was gonna die from heart failure any minute.
Taken to hospital where I ended up on a drip for 3 days with acute liver failure.
NOT recommended folks.

... I think this is a classic example of do as I say, not as I do

Tuesday now. I reckon in approximately another 8 days the symptoms should begin easing off - so Wednesday/Thursday week. As soon as the sweats go away then I know thats when I'm over the worst. The worst is hitting me now - today was extremely difficult but I eventually managed to get out of bed and show my face (no one in the house knows so I'm trying not to arouse any suspicion) and managed to force down two decent, healthy meals. Didn't take any valium or codeine. Have another exam in a day or two so I'll keep the valium and codeine until then. Definitely don't want to waste the valium this early on because it works better for me around the 5th/6th day when the anxiety is debilitating. I also found some pads for my lower back that have a pain-relieving gel on them.

Its 1:30am and I'm wide awake...but keeping my eyes on the prize. It's all temporary. Looking forward to Thursday when I can delete the number to the very last connection I have for H, methadone and pills. Have to pay him off for the valium which is why I can't delete it now but I really can't wait to do that, it'll be another milestone for me.

I'll get up and shower/shave in the morning because I mightn't have the strength to do it for a few days, and the better I look the better I feel (its marginal but its something. Feeling very low, mood is about a 2/10. Thinking is difficult, talking is next to impossible and I havent been answering calls or messages because I have nothing positive to say to anyone.

Anyway...
This is all temporary. This will all be over soon.

Yep you're getting there.
And I know the mental side of it is worse than the physical. I always got restlessness paired with a feeling very much like horrible depression. Xd
... That passes too though.

awesome!! thanks. i will check it out.

sounds like you're in the thick of it. i really hope you are through the worst asap. having some healthy meals and doing any self care at all really will help. as will, as you're doing, reminding yourself this is temporary.

i dunno if your family are like mine and just don't believe if you 'have a cold' because you have 'had a cold' a few too many times before..... but its probably worth at least letting them know you're under the weather in some way so they don't get on your back while you're trying to do this. really hope you managed some sleep.

If they ask, I'll try the 'I have a bit of a cold' excuse. Actually, I might say I have a bit of the flu (and fortunately we're all fully vaxxed so they'd believe me alright.

Deweeded the back garden and ended up going out with them today for ice-cream. Did a CWE before I left and took 5 valium. Sitting out the back garden having a drink now and feel a bit down but no sweats or anxiety.
Said I have tests going on for the next week (which I do) so I wont feel as guilty if I cant make it out some days - although I try my very best to as it makes the days go by faster. More deweeding to do tomorrow afternoon after my exam so that'll make Day 3 go by quicker than if I was to stay in the room all day.

Soldiering on. Exam tomorrow at 12pm, that'll keep me occupied for an hour or so.

Hah. During the first stage of wd I've passed it off as hay-fever (streaming nose and eyes).
During the second as real bad gastric flu.

.. Here's the damn thing.

I tried that once during a job interview.
I was running short - like overdue on my next shot by 6 hrs and desperately hanging on to the single dose I had left - and my fucking lazy-ass dealer refused to show on time (who else here is even remotely surprised XD).

But I really wanted this job so I thought I'd just steel myself to it. About halfway through the withdrawal symptoms got TOO distracting so I took myself off to the bathroom with some bullshit excuse in order to use what gear I had left.
I thought ya gotta be quick to not raise any suspicion ; so did none of my usual extremely cautious rigmarole; just cooked up the usual amount and whacked it straight in...
... the second it hit I KNEW the shit was way stronger than normal and I went oh fuck this is too much.

Tried my best to stay focused during the interview but apparently I kept repeating questions while grinning happily and distractedly at the ceiling.
10 mins in was escorted out of the office in as much of a considerate way as possible thinking, 'well you fucked that one then'

sounds like you're going strong @endlessnameless - well done!! i'm impressed you can hack anything physical but it will be doing you good. good luck with the exam. also not something i'd do during withdrawals but i guess the distraction will be helping.

tbh by the time i was trying to pull the 'i have a cold' routine my family knew damn well what was up so it didn't matter what i said. especially when your cold weirdly comes and goes.

that sounds like a smacky version of that guy in trainspotting who takes a load of speed before going in.

though i don't get how you were clucking if you'd got some. i usually had some dhc or, if really desperate, bupe knocking about so i never had to go in work sick.

I had no access to back - ups at that particular time there was just zero of anything to be had for some reason, and had been counting on getting re-supplied in timely fashion (never trust your dealer xd)
Access to literally anything is very hit and miss round here at times. Like even just a handful of codies
Was holding out on what I'd left precisely because I had no idea of when I'd be able to cop next

That would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

Actually, it's still as funny as fuck 🤣

fair enough- i've never had a situation like that. its been rife the two places i lived while i was using.

even one day the police put through 20 doors at once and we just noticed a slight disturbance for like an hour. they were dead proud of arresting so many people but to us users on the ground supply wasn't even impacted. in a town of 250k in the middle of nowhere. plus people sold their scripts etc.

lol it was actually a really nice town but it makes no difference when you're a junkie, just spend your time between shit estates. even though it was easy to score the gear was often shit.

well done on getting your shit together. i've used dark a couple of times since i got into recovery and it just hasn't hit that spot. am glad tbh, closing the door means i'm in less danger of a full blown relapse.
