Hi folks, my partner has been clean off H, Meth, Suboxone and an SSRI (Leximal) for two months now, she was released from rehab where she was administered methadone daily for a month and has now been completely dry for 2 weeks.

Every day when she wakes up, she has debilitating pain for an hour or 2, she is reporting stomach cramps, pain in her bones, and is crippled, momentarily with pain. Also, hot flushes in the day and night sweats. Also largely fatigued

I am wanting to know if this persistent, yet seemingly intermittent pain is normal and to be expected, and if so how long might it last before she gets better.

She is crying for suboxone now and i honestly feel it's a step backwards and am trying to get her to sit it out.
how long for 'it' to come 'out'?

ANY help will be hugely appreciated.

i also don't think that cramp meds are any help.

She thinks it may be an issue that the drugs masked, but i doubt it due to the pain's transient nature, in that it comes twice a day at most and subsides usually within an hour.

PLEASE CAN ANY ONE WITH EXPERIENCE HELP.

Give Thanks!

I think she should be seeing the doctor, the one who can prescribe suboxone, to alleviate both of yours, but more her worries before she will probably decide on taking the suboxone if you do that..

It sucks feeling like you didn’t or or couldn’t / can’t hit the goal or not to be abstinent and clean. But with the story you have given here, I think you should go on a trip with her to the clinic if that’s what she would (will) use to get a script for Suboxone.

There is zero shame in taking measures to have some peace in her day for this kind of pain management. And she can still by any real channel that could stake a claim against her legal ANYTHING to… it doesn’t matter you can be clean on Suboxone.

Don’t worry about the ongoing narrative floating around that you absolutely can NOT take a narcotic - opioid painkiller if you have an opioid use disorder when an abstinence only thing which says someone is powerless and cannot take…. this is actually an extremely damaging and I think even a controlling power(less) play which does nothing but make people feel ashamed! For taking a prescribed drug from an addictions specialist even!

12 step groups are loud and proud and in the VAST majority as unaffiliated into every rehab so I am assuming what the two of you have learned from her stay there has made you guys feel BAD. Tnis is a noble goal to not ever use a thing and all. But I actually think that the range of humility and shame issues going around over these groups are a MAJOR problem with people finding peace despite addiction.

A substance use disorder is a mental health problem which is universally accepted in medicine to be one which can actually be treated, with SUPERIOR results in the majority of people suffering from one. An SUD is actually way more treatable with continued and prescribed drug use through a proper channel!

AA and the lot who are abstinence “only” and have historically said this against all scientific research for YEARS! They aren’t horrible people, they have every right to be what they are, but the harm reduction model I have been instilled with here in ‘safe supply or die’ Canada and here at Bluelight says this.

They can be a part of the VASTLY superior model which is actually current and used by the majority of the experts now who are changing things around to make harm reduction as the best and also most inclusive take on it. Yknow?

A less painful reduction in use (she’s going on subs not street dope) to keep her mind settled and the fact of her existing SUD as being treated by what is, and it’s yours and especially HER choice to take the real bait here.

I truly believe this is what would be best for her. The only prescribed for meds on an SUD which are proven to be truly effective in treating an illegal drug dependence is actually an all in switch to he same kind of drugs in a reasonable dose from a legal source. This solves the social, the physical and the mental health concerns when someone does not have what their minds and bodies crave and to be outside any risk of a legal battle due to using street drugs..

I am so sorry that it took two full days for someone here to answer your question here. Are you still here? I’m wondering what you think about my whole pitch to just get her on the subs and fuck the rest here.

Oh man, why in the world would she go from suboxone to METHADONE? Dude, that is not proper protocol for getting off opioids! Methadone is much stronger than suboxone. You are supposed to go to suboxone when you come off of methadone, NOT the other way around. Then after you wean down off of suboxone (and listen, those strips can be cut infinitely smaller, so weaning off should not be an issue at ALL), then you switch to kratom to get off suboxone. Kratom is the weakest opioid of all of these, and is practically nothing to come off of cold turkey for 99.9% of individuals. I am telling you right now that this is the BEST way to do it.

What he said. Give her the sub man… it’s been 4 days since you posted what happened?? She seems to have a good mindset in terms of quitting so giving her a sub to control the taper wouldn’t be a bad idea
