Like this:

"Men think, perhaps, that it is peace which I have come to cast upon the
world. They do not know that it is dissension which I have come to cast upon the earth:
fire, sword, and war. For there will be five in a house: three will be against two, and two
against three, the father against the son, and the son against the father. And they will
stand solitary."

"I am not your master. Because you have drunk, you have become intoxicated
from the bubbling spring which I have measured out."
And he took him and withdrew and told him three things. When Thomas returned to his
companions, they asked him, "What did Jesus say to you?"
Thomas said to them, "If I tell you one of the things which he told me, you will pick up
stones and throw them at me; a fire will come out of the stones and burn you up."

"Now the sower went out, took a handful (of seeds), and scattered them.
Some fell on the road; the birds came and gathered them up. Others fell on the rock, did
not take root in the soil, and did not produce ears. And others fell on thorns; they choked
the seed(s) and worms ate them. And others fell on the good soil and it produced good
fruit: it bore sixty per measure and a hundred and twenty per measure."

"Tell us how our end will be."
Jesus said, "Have you discovered, then, the beginning, that you look for the end? For
where the beginning is, there will the end be. Blessed is he who will take his place in the
beginning; he will know the end and will not experience death."

"Blessed is he who came into being before he came into being. If you
become my disciples and listen to my words, these stones will minister to you. For there
are five trees for you in Paradise which remain undisturbed summer and winter and
whose leaves do not fall. Whoever becomes acquainted with them will not experience
death."

"Whoever has ears, let him hear. There is light within a man of light,
and he lights up the whole world. If he does not shine, he is darkness."

"You do not realize who I am from what I say to you, but you have
become like the Jews, for they (either) love the tree and hate its fruit (or) love the fruit
and hate the tree."

"If two make peace with each other in this one house, they will say to the
mountain, 'Move Away,' and it will move away."

"When will the repose of the dead come about, and when
will the new world come?"
He said to them, "What you look forward to has already come, but you do not recognize
it."

"It will not come by waiting for it. It will not be a matter of saying 'here it
is' or 'there it is.' Rather, the kingdom of the father is spread out upon the earth, and men
do not see it."

Enough for now.
I still find jesus my favorite influencer once the bs is removed.

In my opinion, the new testament should have ended with the gospels, and thus should only consist of *Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Everything written after that is absolutely extraneous to the necessary theology of christianity. And christianity would be a nicer, gentler, more brotherly and magnanimous religion had it stopped there. Many of the remaining books simply introduce a bunch of unnecessary fine-print, opinions, rules, as well some bat-shit crazy stuff, like the fever-dream that is the book of revelation. I bet had jesus read the books that followed the gospels he wouldn't have especially appreciated all the content.

Of course, I am of the opinion that it is all mythology and superstition, but christianity (and the world it profoundly impacts) would have been better served if the new testament had ended after Jesus's demise. If jesus existed now he would quite promptly be pumped full of antipsychotics (much like anyone who claims to be the son of god -- because that's just crazy). But what he had to say was somewhat unique for that time and place, and the overall message of bible would have been much nicer had it stopped there.

I get it.
It is all been mixed and muxed.
I have to admit that the division caused is quite a boner. I mean who else has caused such a division among earthlings? I just find it unique in that others make of it what they will and thats "gospel".
But shit like :

"It will not come by waiting for it. It will not be a matter of saying 'here it
is' or 'there it is.' Rather, the kingdom of the father is spread out upon the earth, and men
do not see it."

This is something I feel. We have all we need it's just been buried and shit strewn til it is unrecognizable. Just an opinion but this planet is golden how do we dispel the illusions?
Am I mad, naive, uneducated or just plain dumb to believe such a thing?
I see the world as it is and it can be better, imo.
I want it so so badly.
Forget about the messianic one for a sec... what about the wisdom and insights he/she tried to impart? Any many others that are taken to feed the fishes. If ya dont agree with cesar you die or are insane. Give to Cesar what is cesars ... nothing is his to own what kinda slave teaching is that?
Must we corrupt and profit from every single thing that is placed in our hands?
Obv I am in a state but been here for a long while and ready for a change.
Shit just dont add up and needs to, imo.
If I get out of hand with my searches and and need for answers please feel free to time me out or discuss this with me.
Sick of pain, misery and the con-men.
Oh, well.
Seems like I am on a mission of sorts and can only see one end to this means; love and spreading good seed would be preferable.
I do want peace and justice.
Without the one the is not the other.

(Spoken to the United Nations General Assembly on October 4, 1963)

"On the question of racial discrimination, the Addis Ababa Conference taught, to those who will learn, this further lesson:

that until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned;

that until there are no longer first class and second class citizens of any nation;

that until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes;

that until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race;

that until that day, the dream of lasting peace and world citizenship and the rule of international morality will remain but a fleeting illusion, to be pursued but never attained." Italics added my myself.

There is a way froward.
There must be.
Even after all these setbacks, assassinations of those who would see a peaceful resolution of inequality and a free society.

Yeah... I may be that mad hatter but just because it hasnt been accomplished doesn't mean it cannot.

I believe Jesus H Christ really existed and was more of a philosopher than a messiah. I don't believe in any of the supernatural stuff or "miracles" that he performed. Like @negrogesic said, if he were alive today not only would he be labeled a marxist socialist, but he would be institutionalized and prolly crucified all over again.

Never thought about the New Testament from the gospels only perspective but it does make a hell of a lot of sense.

There is indeed a lot of sense in scriptures.

As a Gnostic Christian, I read that sense and end in recognizing the evil in the genocidal, homophobic and misogynous Yahweh, --- while Christians read the same book and end in adoring that evil God.

The corruption began when Christianity and supernatural belief supplanted Chrestianity and a natural god.

Putting God above man was not a good idea, and was not the belief that Jewry followed.

Jesus himself via the Bible asks us, have ye forgotten that ye are Gods?

Most have.

Not Gnostic Christians.

Mormons haven't forgotten it either 🤣

Also pretty sure that in that passage Jesus is not using the word "god" in the sense of god as a deity but rather god in the diminutive sense of an authority figure. If we are talking about the same thing, this occurs when a mob approaches him for purporting to be the son of god, and he says something like, "well, doesn't your law proclaim you to be gods?", which is referring to the religious authorities/adjudicators of the law.

So you took that one a bit out of context 🤏

(As a kid I was forced to go to church for a number of years (hated it) but pretty early on I realized that the church services would go by much faster if I simply read the book that was sitting in front of me (the bible). So each Sunday I read it incrementally, in chronological order, picking up where I left off. Never bought into the underlying fairy tale, but it's nicely written, fairly interesting and my early reading of it definitely was a very good exercise for my brain. People would sometimes say stuff to my mom like, "oh what a nice young man, i see him reading the bible every Sunday...etc". Then I'd go sneak off to try to steal wine or beat the shit out of this kid I hated in the parking lot behind the church 🤣

I do not think, given the many Gods, that we can know for sure what Jesus thought, but I can know that I think as he did about us growing into Gods, if we choose to.

That is why everyone should be a Gnostic Christian.

Modern Gnostic Christians name our god "I am", and yes, we do mean ourselves.

You are your controller. I am mine. You represent and present whatever mind picture you have of your God or ideal human, and so do I.

The name "I Am" you might see as meaning something like, --- I think I have grown up thanks to having forced my apotheosis through Gnosis and meditation and “I am”, represents the best rules and laws that we have found to live by.

In Gnostic Christianity, we follow the Christian tradition that Christians have forgotten that they are to do. That is, become brethren to Jesus.

That is why some say that the only good Christian is a Gnostic Christian.

Here is the real way to salvation that Jesus taught.

Matthew 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Allan Watts explains those quotes in detail.

Joseph Campbell shows the same esoteric ecumenist idea in this link.

The bible just plainly says to put away the things of children. The supernatural and literal reading of myths.

Gnosis enlightens adults.

Not sure I agree.
He also said we would do greater that he.
WTF knows, though?
I am sure I do not and wouldnt pretend to.

In the image of god..?

Forget about the bible. It's people/society that is dysfunctional. Like blaming SpongeBob for pollution.

Great thread. One of my favorite, that if we all followed it would find our way home:

Do unto others as you would have done to you. Matthew 7 12

I think what astounds me is there are people who care about their kids, but not give a crap about anyone else's kids. At one point does a person say to themselves that we should be treated equally. But a lot of people are like as long as I got mine screw you.

Martha Beck cleverly made up the inverse Golden Rule. Don't do to yourself anything that you would not do to another. (something like that)

As someone more on the Gnostic side of things. Jesus was just the worlds most fun junkie superstar at the time. I bet he owed a lot of money to the banks (jews) and was thus crucified..

Where the other books at?

@Gnostic Bishop
What is your take on the following, please? I found it to be tied to many cultures but Gnosticism came up so thought I'd try to get your perspective on the "five trees":
For there
are five trees for you in Paradise which remain undisturbed summer and winter and
whose leaves do not fall. Whoever becomes acquainted with them will not experience
death.

Something else I have though of for decades:
If jesus raised lazarus from the dead is he still walking the earth? I mean when freed from death what power would it have?

Jesus put a end to barbaic cultures and their backwards way of living. We have to thank the bible for giving our foundations of western cilvization acutal morals and values.

Jesus put a end to barbaic cultures and their backwards way of living.
Maybe he showed us that there is a one-ness (dark and light) and our actions are what makes or breaks us. idk
Barbaric cultures? Ya mean living naturally? christianity brought in the age of barbarism, imo.
You trippin?
Your whole post reeks of one who is dedicated to the lies we all were brought up to believe, imo.
Fuckin schools and their "history" books. lol Jokey shit.
