He stole 99 fentanyl pills from an evidence locker and was only charged with larceny. He was not charged with either possession or distribution.

The original suspect is facing up to 20 years for distribution...

Also... Why is a detective stealing them?? Only two reasons I can think of: to use them himself, or more likely to plant them as evidence on some poor bastard... And of course this won't come up in the trial
