I've been fully vaxxed now with 2 shots of the AZ. I felt nothing at all except a little post-injection pain at the injection site, both times, that passed in 1-2 days. FWIW I caught actual Covid in early March 2020 and had a fairly unpleasant run with it including lingering long-term side-effects, though my experience wasn't in any way severe enough to require hospitalizing.

My Mum and Aunt (UK) were also fully vaccinated with the AZ-Oxford vaccine. They both felt a little ill after the first shot (mostly bad headaches) but that was it. However both developed symptoms much more typical of a full-on infection after the second shot (mild fever, lethargy, lack of appetite, poor sleep) for 1-2 days.

My brother and his wife (US) have also been fully vaccinated (with the Moderna), and both felt pretty unwell, again largely soon after their second jabs. One other relative I know of (UK) has also been fully vaccinated now (with the Pfizer). He said he felt worse after his first shot and actually slightly less sick after the booster

Here's the general situation worldwide of the % who've received at least one vaccine dose (as of 23rd April) for a variety of regions and countries. The US is doing really well; surprisingly the EU (considering it's huge manufacturing capacity and potential) isn't.

(NB: Gibraltar is confusingly over 100%, but that's because they also decided to offer the Pfizer vaccine to their entire cohort of non-resident workers and their families - folks who mostly live across the border in Spain)

You must have the highest anti-coronavirus antibody titer of anyone on earth, 2 x natural infection plus 2x the oxford-AZ GM chimp virus vaccine. Have you enrolled in a study? If you test positive for the damn thing for a third time that would be smoking gun evidence that antibodies do not prevent infection and God is fucking with you!

My arm was sore for a couple days but other than that I was good! Maybe a little more tired than usual. Totally worth it and I'm relieved knowing I'm fully protected now.

So I got my first shot but idk if I’m getting my second to be honest... I felt a weird dissociation for awhile after my first. It was hard to drive for a couple days when I need to be able to.. Yea sure it seems temporary and would probably be the second time too but not sure I wanna feel that way with what I got going on not long after the second is scheduled.

One thing I’m curious, if the first shot is around 80% effective for Moderna why would people still go for JnJ at 66%?

I think 80% is good for me, my immune system got a taste and that’s what I was after. I’m not someone who plans on getting shots every year even if that turns out to be the reality of the situation.

They are all 100% effective at preventing severe disease. So they say.

Though all this effectiveness stuff seems a little misleading, particularly when people try to compare one with the other. AFAIK they have not been compared in any meaningful head-to-head studies, and they've all been rather, uh, selective in their data analyses....

I got my second shot yesterday, and fuck, the side effects were pretty rough honestly. It started in the night, around 3 in the morning or so. Woke up sweating and soaked, chills, like I had the flu basically. My arm was so sore that I couldn't sleep on that arm without horrible pain. I woke up this morning, still feeling a little off and my temp was 98.5 (though mine's usually 96 point something or even 95 point something when I first wake up). The feverish feeling has more or less gone away now, and I essentially feel normal for the most part. Last night was horrendous though. I've never had anything like this from a vaccine though, any vaccine. This was the first time I ever had a shot that actually got me sick.

The E.U. has been exceedingly generous and has been supplying a good part of the world with vaccines. We are getting most of our vaccines from the E.U.

They actually say that if you already had COVID, you're more likely to get side effects. But I already had it and I didn't, so who knows.

I know a handful of people who got side effects.

We got our second moderna yesterday noon. So far only noticeable side effect is the sore arm. We changed arms to the other to be able to at least sleep on our left side for a while.

I asked when the vax would peak and it was told to me that two weeks after second dose would be top @ 90%. First dose got us to 80%. WTH happend to the 95+% they touted? And iirc it is now being reported that it's efficacy is limited to 6 months? Knowing this can only speculation at this point but I am not sure if I see a yearly or bi-yearly vaccine regime in my future if this be the case.

Guess we will see....

Had my 1st Moderna jab 3 weeks ago, aching arm and a bit tired the next day, that was it regarding side effects

I was in two very disctinct minds over whether to have it right up until it was in my arm however. I stuck the extent of my knowledge and my intuition onto my internal scales while also trying to free myself from all the fucking noise on both 'sides' of the 'debate' and it weighed down just on the 'take it' side. YMMV.

I dunno if I'll have the 2nd one yet, we'll see
