NEMD The Soul/Funk/R&B thread

I wonder what he was like as a person.

I doubt many really knew.

It must have been so hard to not even be able to walk down the street.

like being in prison and brought out to preform like a trained monkey.

no wonder they all turn to drugs in the end.

Sorry I just saw this.

If you watch/listen to him speak he actually seemed quite down-to-earth and he definitely had good sense of humour.

I think he coped with fame a lot better than Michael Jackson.. He was so charismatic and confident, he loved performing. The guy could play over 30 instruments proficiently, write all the music & lyrics, and choreograph.

So weird he and Bowie died the same year cos they were similar in a lot of ways.

Hey good work @lonelyDude

I actually did a bit of reading on the Funk/Soul/R&B genre and Prince is definitely up there.

Pretty sure I've paid homage to the Grandfather of Soul.. Mr Please Please Please, Papa's Gotta Brand New Bag.. Who I SAW LIVE in 1995ish. But he *was* Prince's main influence 🙌

And this is one of the best remixes ever, courtesy of my good mate in London (who probably discovered it via the thumbnail pic heh)..

@Neuroborean (re our convo yesterday)

"Psychic changes are born in your heart, entertain
A nervous breakthrough that makes us the same; Bless your heart, girl
Kill the pressure it's raining on salty cheeks
When you hear the beloved song, I am with you"

🤗
