While this is funny, easy surgeries start at a failure rate of 5-12% and go up to 50%+ failure rate during complicated surgeries especially involving the spine. So "it cures" is false. "It will probably cure"

Truth may hurt but surgery may kill you.
Also didn't Suyin mostly work from 1930 to 1970 in China? I imagine failure rates were much higher, so maybe further Adjustment is needed. "Truth, like surgery, may hurt, but at least doesn't kill you from an infection 60% of the time"
lol. it's a, whaddya call em, a mettyfor. It's not meant to be taken literally 😏

Well i know a metaphor is not to be taken literal, but the allegory should fit yknow.

Like "truth is like cold. It may hurt, but wakes you up" i dunno. If I can poke holes through a metaphor like swiss cheese it's not a good one 😱 point of a metaphor is usually that the Sinnbild fits

Im sorry, sweetie, im terrible i know

Racism is so American that when you protest it people think you are protesting America.

there is enough treachery, hatred violence absurdity in the average
human being to supply any given army on any given day

and the best at murder are those who preach against it
and the best at hate are those who preach love
and the best at war finally are those who preach peace

those who preach god, need god
those who preach peace do not have peace
those who preach peace do not have love

beware the preachers
beware the knowers
beware those who are always reading books
beware those who either detest poverty
or are proud of it
beware those quick to praise
for they need praise in return
beware those who are quick to censor
they are afraid of what they do not know
beware those who seek constant crowds for
they are nothing alone
beware the average man the average woman
beware their love, their love is average
seeks average

but there is genius in their hatred
there is enough genius in their hatred to kill you
to kill anybody
not wanting solitude
not understanding solitude
they will attempt to destroy anything
that differs from their own
not being able to create art
they will not understand art
they will consider their failure as creators
only as a failure of the world
not being able to love fully
they will believe your love incomplete
and then they will hate you
and their hatred will be perfect

like a knife
like a mountain
like a tiger

This is intriguing. It's well-written and quite poetic but I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'll need to re-read it a few times over the next several days. I definitely agree with "Beware the preachers / Beware the knowers"

I've described myself as an old hippiebilly. Those who know me agree with that tag.

My sig line wishes the reader "Peace&Love" and I truly mean it. Is the author of the above piece suggesting that what I really want is war and hate?

It's Bukowski, nothing more than the depressed ramblings of a drunkard. I wouldn't read too much into it.

I think he's just describing the insanity of a convoluted society.

Exactly ^^^

I will now post this on my Facebook lol

It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on his not understanding it.
Upton Sinclair

Some white about destruction of society being equally the cash cow from some windy book full of idioms and I barely read it

Rhett Butler should have had no iconic epiphanies by Nobel transfer to so many about capitalism and wartime. Equal and opposite effects being in disparity to the endless modes of income and expense for every significant cultural and world event should have never been given insight.

That book was about some chick. The end.

"The lawyers have sat in council, the men with the keen, long faces,
And said, `This man is a fool,’ and others have said, `He blasphemeth;’
And the wise have pitied the fool that hath striven to give a life
In the world of time and space among the bulks of actual things,
To a dream that was dreamed in the heart, and that, only the heart could hold."
P.Mc.P, The Fool
